Cartoon Impressions is based on my personal impressions of various cartoons.
This gives more weight to my own opinion. If you don’t like what’s said or written in this series, understand everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
I have a lot of things to say about Mr.Pickles. Unfortunately none of these things are good. Were do I start? I guess I should start by talking about the art direction, it's repulsive! The show has some of the ugliest character designs I've ever seen. The backgrounds don't look much better either. The animation is also terrible, if the animation isn't incredibly stiff it's just plain lazy. So much for creating the illusion of movement. You may be wondering if both the art in animation aren't good, surely this show will attempt to make it up for it with good writing. Well if you thought that, I think you're giving this show too much credit. First off the show does what too many other American adult party cartoons do, attempt to replicate South Park without understanding what makes it work. So expect a lot of tasteless shock humor. I mean just looking at Mr.Pickles the only joke he carries through out the whole series, is that he's satanic. Mr.Pickles also serves no relevance to the series because he's barely in the show. Yes the character this show's named after is pretty much a background character. The show really follows the Goodman's (mainly Tommy Goodman) who if you see them you can pretty much guess their character types. Since this is only a Cartoon Impression I won't go into full detail about this show. Just know that it's terrible. So I think it's safe to say that this show has nothing of value to offer. If you still want to watch this after my warning just know you won't be pleased. I had a hard time just watching three episodes of this show. There's a lesson to learn from Mr.Pickles. If you can't see the canvas for what it is don't work in adult party cartoons. Cartoons already aren't taken seriously in America. Many adults see it as kids stuff. Mr.Pickles doesn't help the case. If you want to see adult party cartoons taken more seriously as of now I advise you to check out some anime. Personal recommendations would be Tatami Galaxy, and Gregory Horror Show.
