Cartoon Impressions is based on my personal impressions of various cartoons.
This gives more weight to my own opinion. If you don’t like what’s said or written in this series, understand everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
I've talked to many people about this show. A lot of people say this show is decent but I highly disagree. This has a lot of flaws from it's characters to it's writing. The first episode wasn't to bad. It was a bit mediocre but nothing compared to the later episodes. All the characters are a joke, an I don't mean that in a good way. They're all pretty much boiled down to shallow character traits. Sonic is pretty much your standard Deadpan Snarker (According to TV Tropes, click Deadpan Snarker to learn more about this trope), Tails is the smart guy, Amy is the hopelessly optimistic female protagonist, Knuckles the Jock stereotype, and finally Sticks who is incredibly paranoid. The main antagonist isn't much better sadly. He's the worst Dr. Robotnik/Eggman incarnation ever. When you think about it it's kinda funny because when you line up every Robotnik/Eggman chronologically you see the regression of him as a villain. Diving into the shows problems when it comes to writing, two major issues pop up. One is the characters overall characterizations, and second the jokes and humor. First let's talk about the characterization. As I've stated before the characters are incredibly one note, lacking anything in terms of writing to modify them past their character traits. I'm not saying the characters need to be incredibly fleshed out with all kinds of depth and insight, but they do need more of a personally besides their character traits (Examples being: Chowder, Spongebob, The Powerpuff Girls, Bloo, Harvey, and Courage the cowardly dog, just to name a handful.). The second thing is what really kills this show for me, the humor. I don't know what else to say about the jokes. The jokes are painful, in a extremely urksome kind of way. If you ever laughed at any jokes from Chowder, Old school (Pre-movie)Spongebob, or The amazing world of Gumball you'll probably hate the jokes here. Each joke feels like a brick to the head. I'd probably be able to get past this but the writing inject these jokes into any scene they feel they can. There's way to many jokes like this in the show, each one more cringe-worthy than the last. This show suffers many problems but the worst has to be the joke telling, at least to me anyway. The character designs look pretty good but that doesn't save it from the shows writing. It's sad to say it but both the video game and the TV show sucks. I guess we can only pray that Sonic and friends will one day make a come back. If you watch the show after this you've been warned.

Cartoon Impressions aren't reviews but my overall impressions of various cartoons so I don't usually go into detail as must as a Toonsmash entry. I'm probably going to start a different series of post to review stuff like this. Please feel free to comment in the comment section. If you like this post share it on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, or whatever social network you use. Until next time peace, love, and hairgrease.
